Where to buy
High-performance MacGlide™ adhesive film is good for your boat, for your wallet, and for marine fauna and flora.
150 000 tons of anti-fouling paints are used across Europe each year, and every square metre of applied paint contains around 15g of biocide – capable of contaminating 150 000m³ of water. Such paints cause damage to the marine environment and they also create a need for frequent repainting.
The good news is that helping the environment also improves protection for your boat – with less maintenance and lower overall costs.

“Estimates suggest a 30-foot sailboat will leach about two pounds of toxic copper into the water each year.”

“I chose MacGlide because I was already aware that the film was better than paint at stopping marine organisms from fouling the hull, and because I knew that it was a more ecological solution. The film was applied on one of my rudders, with the other rudder left painted. I saw the difference at the end of one year: the painted rudder was very difficult to clean, whereas the one covered in MacGlide had much less fouling, and it was removed very easily.”

What is the alternative to boat paints?
MacGlide™ self-adhesive film is not only a non toxic alternative to anti-fouling paints for boats hull protection, it also offers more flexibility in the planning of maintenance work : it can indeed be applied indoors and outdoors, during all the dry season, as long as the ambient temperature is above 10°C. Mactac views environmental responsibility as an integral part of good corporate citizenship and an essential consideration in the products we manufacture, the processes we employ and the research and development activities we carry out.
